And while Agathon is definitely and even primarily depicted with pathos and agathoj much supportive understanding by Wieland, he is also presented as being inhabited by an overabundance of exaggerated, almost extreme enthusiasm, and thus in many ways massively and sadly removed from pragmatic reality, not only inherently naive, but also very prone to believing and respecting given philosophers simply because they happen to be “philosophers” even if it is clearly demonstrated that there are major issues, that this respect is not in any way even remotely warranted.
