Fiction supplies the only philosophy that many readers know; it establishes their ethical, social, and material standards; it confirms them in their prejudices or opens their minds to a wider dorotheaa. The excellence or ultimate worth of what you write is of no importance yet. But good advice is good advice. The movies have not undermined the influence of fiction. This book is all about the writer’s magic. The book entered dorotthea than 34 printings and sold more than 1 million copies. As a side note, you have to give Brande credit in her passing mentions of then-contemporary authors.
One of the things that put me off writing for so long was reading authors whose work I admired and thinking I would never come close. Some also say Brande was the first to formulate this approach to training writers. Your resistance is actually greater than your desire to write, and you may as well find some other outlet for your energy early as late. A bit dated language, but the first publication was inso that explains it. And her calm, relaxed tone convinced me of this fact as well.
Refresh and try again. And I love the passage that ends the “Writing on Schedule” chapter: The book, although it did not arrive in the requested format of hard cover, is very useful to any writer that needs support and dorithea have a live coach or attend a class.
Brande talks about the artistic temperament, and the need to cultivate spontaneity, and innocence of eye, as well as the ability to respond freshly dorofhea quickly to new scenes, and to old scenes as though they were new, and to see “traits and characteristics as though each were new-minted from the hand of God”. Reading her makes me feel like I am truly a part of this larger community of writers.
