Mar 24, Heather rated it really liked it. It is no wonder that we have such a diversity among Muslims. If you are interested in Muhammad and the growth of Islam, and don’t want the history books, I recommend this little book that sheds a different light on Muhammad.


The second third was also interesting, with Muhammad being exposed to the intrigues of his time and eventually seeing the angel of prophecy. The author keeps the language simple and easy to understand, and it is this style that contributes to bringing the life of seventh century Arabia alive on the pages.

I read this with my book club. This goes a long way in helping the casual observer understand why Islam was revealed upon humankind. I wouldn’t recommend this book to someone who wants to learn about Muhammad; nonetheless, it is a good book if you have a background on Islam and looking for good fiction story about Islam historiw provides a different perspective.

Published September 21st by HarperOne first published April 1st Sep pdofeta, Micah rated it liked it. Mahomma as “one of the top heroes and icons of the century and credits him as “the poet-prophet of alternative medicine.

OK as historical fiction, not so good as fiction. Chopra’s stilted writing style made several of his non-historical novels less than enjoyable to me in the past.

The view of early Islam is somewhat scary.

Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Reading the story with a different eye gave me the ability to imagine how fearious it must have been. Religion in general is a touchy subject and no hiatoria how an author discusses it, criticism is bound to appear.

Each chapter is the memory of someone who had close contact to the man–a wife or daughter or friend, even his lifelong enemy.

Chopra’s heavy handed fictionalization takes away from what was already an amazing story. However, the author is not Muslim and I think I would like to hear a Muslim’s perspective on Muhammad. I also plan on further reading about Islam in an effort to better understand the diversity within it.
