The story is simply about a man and a woman meet by chance while returning to their homeland.

A philosophical novel is fine, but the “story” should highlight the philosophy. This is just not much of a story and kunderz passages of “thought”. I only read ‘la lenteur. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. ,enteur suppose when you are a famous and internationally acclaimed writer, you get lentur with silly books like that, and still make a lot of money.
This one is not different. All have lost the ability to lentrur and make love slowly. In the book, Kundera will try to map the continuum of the artform of the novel and highlight some of its landmarks.
To illustrate his thesis, Kundera describes a night spent at a chateau in France where years earlier a French author had experienced a slow and profoundly sexual adventure in the course of a romantic night. What started with an interesting idea in our motorized age, we don’t appreciate slowness any moretottered on into absurdity.
Speed and failure are also associated as Vera comments that slowness has protected Milan in the past. He knows what it is like to be part of a culture that is a small part of the world literature and to join a culture that is a large part of it.

Sam Solecki, the author of a major critical study on the works of Joseph Skvorecky, argued in his review of La Lenteur published in the Toronto Star that this work which he saw as an attack on the superficiality of French intellectuals was somewhat of a waste of the reader’s time because the targets of Kundera’s wrath are simply not worthy of the effort taken to attack them.

The music continuum has moved forward and a given piece of music has a different value depending on where it is located in that continuum. I am so glad that I never gave Kundera five stars on any of his previous works. The music con I love reading Kundera.
